ஓங்க லிடைவந் துயர்ந்தோர் தொழவிளங்கி
ஏங்கொலிநீர் ஞாலத் திருளகற்றும்  - ஆங்கவற்றுள்
மின்னேர் தனியாழி வெங்கதிரொன் றேனையது
தன்னே ரிலாத தமிழ்.


There are two things born from mountains,
shining so brilliantly that the great bow down,
driving the darkness from the earth circled by roaring waters.
One is the burning sun, a single wheel glowing like lightning,
and the other is Tamil that has no like.
